Important! Before downloading any game, please ensure your computer meets the minimum system requirements to run the game smoothly.
Steps for Running a Game
1. Download Safely
- Use a Download Manager: Make sure you use Internet Download Manager (IDM) or Free Download Manager (FDM) to download files. Downloading directly via a browser can sometimes lead to corrupted files.
- If you don’t have IDM, you can download a trial or free version.
- Alternatively, download Free Download Manager from their official site.
- Note: If you have already downloaded the game via browser and it works, that is fine. Just keep this in mind for future downloads.
2. Disable Antivirus Before Extraction
- Turn Off Security: Ensure that both your Antivirus (if you have a third-party one) and Windows Security (Defender) are turned OFF before you extract the game archives using WinRAR.
- Why? Antivirus programs often falsely detect “
” files (modified files needed to run the game) as threats and delete them automatically. Without these files, the game will not run.
Pro Tip: Follow the “Windows Defender Exclusion Setup” section at the bottom of this guide. This allows you to create a safe folder that your Antivirus will never touch. This is highly recommended as it allows you to keep your Defender ON at all times while keeping your games safe.
3. Install Essential Components (_CommonRedist)
If the game comes with a _CommonRedist folder, install all the programs inside it as Administrator if you haven’t already. These usually include:
dxwebsetup.exe(DirectX)oalinst.exe(OpenAL)vcredist_2015-2019_x64.exe&x86.exe(Visual C++)vcredist_x64.exe&x86.exexnafx40_redist.msi(XNA Framework)
Still Missing DLLs? If installing the provided redistributables doesn’t fix missing DLL errors, try downloading the VisualCppRedist AIO (All-In-One).
- Get the installer (x64 or x86 depending on your system).
- Run it, and it will automatically remove old versions and reinstall all necessary Visual C++ libraries cleanly.
4. Update Graphics Drivers
Ensure your GPU drivers are up-to-date to prevent graphical glitches or crashes.
- Open Windows Search and type “Device Manager”.
- Expand the Display Adapters section.
- Right-click on your graphics card name.
- Select Update Driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Note: For best results, use the dedicated software for your GPU (NVIDIA GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenalin Software).
5. Run the Game
- Always run the
game.exeas Administrator. - If you cannot find the executable, check subfolders (often named
binorsystem) or search the main folder for “.exe”. - If there are multiple
.exefiles, try them one by one until the game launches.
Windows Defender Exclusion Setup (Recommended)
This method prevents Windows Defender from automatically deleting your game files without needing to turn the antivirus off permanently.
- Create a Folder: Create a new folder on your Hard Drive specifically for games (e.g., name it GAMES).
- Open Security Settings: Go to Windows Security (look for the Shield Icon on your taskbar or search for it in the Start menu).
- Manage Settings: Navigate to Virus & threat protection > Manage settings.
- Add Exclusion: Scroll down to the Exclusions section and click Add or remove exclusions.
- Select the Folder: Click Add an exclusion, choose Folder, and select the GAMES folder you created in Step 1.
Done! Once set up, you can always extract or install your games directly into this GAMES folder. Your antivirus will ignore this specific location, ensuring your
files and game data remain safe while the rest of your computer stays protected.
